OUR FISH

Yesterday Mrs Groom got some fish for our class.
They are very small and they are not the same. If we got two the same we would not recognise them.
If we feed the two little fish too much, the water will get dirty and they will die.
They have no names yet.
They need fresh water.
The black fish has one fin. When you feed them they go to the top of the tank then they eat the food.
One looks like mud and the other one looks like gold.

We have goldfish in a tank.Yesterday we talked about our pets. Now we have pets in our class.
Goldfish are special. One is gold and one is black.
There is a tiny bridge in the tank.There are some little stones and some green leaves. I want to call them Rosie and Semer.

The goldfish names should be Shiny and Dirty. Before they were playing hide and seek. When you feed the fish the fish food floats on the top of the water. When the fish see it, they come to the top of the tank.

AWESOME WRITING

PLAYING
Yesterday afternoon Dad and I went to soccer. My Dad was playing soccer and I was playing on the playground. 
I made some new friends there. I only remember one name. It was Emma. 
I really needed to go to the toilet but I couldn't because I didn't know where the toilet was. I also couldn't tell my Dad because he was playing soccer.
So I sat down and watched the game and had a drink. 
Then I went back to the playground and covered the slide with dirt. Then I slid in it. At the end of the game I showed Dad how to slide in it.

BLOSSOM
Outside there is a cherry blossom tree and there are BIG pompoms on the tree. Big kids climb the tree and people pick the beautiful flowers.

RACING

I will go to Taupo for racing on Saturday. When I go out of the start gate I have to beat Ryan out of the start gate. At Taupo's BMX track there are sealed corners.
We have a filled gate. For a filled gate we have to get out of the gate fast. I do that sometimes.
I forget to blast out of the gate sometimes. I have beaten Ryan out of the gate before. When I race, I race hard.
When I went to Pre-Norths I went so hard that my legs were jelly. I am lucky that I get a rest after every race.

I am going camping for the night and my Mum is going to come and sleep with me in the tent.
I am going to take my teddy too.
I am going to toast marshmallows and then I am going to eat them. I am going to take my torch and make shadows.
When I wake up I'm going home to eat breakfast.

I like the cherry blossom tree and the blossom reminds me that summer is coming. So summer means that we can go swimming and I can go swimming with my friends. Yay!!

On Friday I am going to go to Zander's house for a play date. My Mum is going to throw my bike and scooter in the boot and drop me off.

BADJELLY

Everyone in our school was in the production of Badjelly.

Ella was an awesome dancer and the rest of us in Room 2 were in the chorus and we sang the songs.

Mrs Groom had the job of helping with the costumes.We did our show at the Municipal Theatre in the last week of term. It was a bit scary and fun at the same time.

SCHOOL MURAL

Have a look at our school mural. 
It's in progress at the moment and shows significant events and some of Porritt School's history over the last 40 years. 
Brendon Blair is the artist. He's doing a magnificent job. It's looking fantastic and is almost finished.

BOOK WEEK

Book week was a lot of fun.
We dressed up as our favourite book characters and paraded on the front courts in glorious sunshine.

                Here are the Junior Best Dressed. 

Spiders, Binklebonk, Cat in the Hat and Fancy Nancy.

Later in the day  we all enjoyed the BIG read on the field.

CAT in the HAT

We have been doing an author study on Dr. Suess.
We found out that he was born in America and named Theodor Suess Geisel.
When he wrote books he went by the name 
Dr. Suess or he wrote his surname backwards and went under the name - Theo Lesieg.
He loved to make up words and use rhyme in his books.
He died 34 years ago at the age of 83.

We made our own "Cat in the Hat" hats.
We looked so cool.

                            

We also did some awesome pencil sketches and made ourselves look like Cat in the Hat characters on the ipads.

                                           

                  

SHAPES

       We found out that shapes are everywhere.

   Then we made shape pictures.

BIG BREAKFAST

Last week we had a HEALTHY BIG BREAKFAST for our Junior children and whanau, as part of our Healthy Eating topic.

We started at 7:30am (although the teachers were here much earlier) and people came in and out until 8:30. 

It was awesome eating breakfast and meeting with new people and catching up with others.

Lots of children ate new things they had never tried before. For example - tamarillo, scrambled egg and baked beans, to name a few.

Many parents were amazed just how much their kids could eat!!!
